San Antonio Community Resource Directory

Our Mission:  Seeking to put God's love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.

Comal County Habitat for Humanity was incorporated in the state of Texas as a non-profit organization on July 28, 1993. It is a local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. We are recognized by the Internal Revenue Service under group exemption and assigned number 8545.

We have built 48 homes as of Summer 2020 in Comal County - all with donated funds, labor and materials. Habitat homes are not subsidized homes or promoted under any federal program. Comal County Habitat for Humanity initially holds the mortgages for completed homes. All homeowners pay an affordable loan to Habitat. Our community extends their support by volunteering and donating land, building materials/construction services, and funds.

Homebuyer Guidelines:

  • We sell the homes to our families - the homes are NOT free!
  • The homes are financed through a long-term, affordable interest loan.
  • Habitat families help build their homes with help from volunteers.
  • Habitat families must complete 350 hours of "SWEAT EQUITY" before they can move into their homes.

Do you qualify? We consider these 5 things:

  • Does your annual income meet our guidelines? Click here to view the HUD Income Guidelines.
  • Have you lived or worked in Comal County for the past 12 months?
  • Can you pay a long-term mortgage? You must be able to show that you have income to pay for the loan.
  • Do you have legal residence in the United States?
  • Can you successfully pass a criminal background check?

If you answered 'Yes' to all five questions, you should consider applying for our program!
